MC3 Adds New Members to the Board of Directors

Appointment of Two New Members

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 30, 2021) - MC3 is very pleased to announce that, Jim Sullivan and Marvin Whistler will be joining the MC3 Board of Directors. These MC3 - Certified Mediators and ADR professionals bring distinct backgrounds and areas of expertise. Their appointments to the Board will assist in the effort to expand the growth and reach of MC3 and further establish the organization as the Gold Standard for Mediator Certification.

Jim Sullivan has more than 35 years as a licensed commercial/industrial real estate professional with broad experience working with tenants, landlords, buyers, sellers, developers, investors and contractors. Mr. Sullivan is also a commercial mediator, practicing through both Sullivan Commercial Mediation and Trusted Mediators in Long Beach, CA.

Jim possesses a Master in Dispute Resolution (MDR) from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. He has extensive experience mediating brokerage commission disputes and has worked at mediating ADA claims for the US District Court for the Central District of California. His experience includes serving on several other Boards including AIR CRE and St. Cross Episcopal Church and Jim has also volunteered with various organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Volunteer Builder and Laundry Love.

Marvin Whistler is a mediator whose practice focuses on family law, including divorce, parenting plans and other family issues. He also mediates real estate, community, landlord-tenant, and civil litigation disputes.

Marvin’s has worked on numerous mediation panels including Southern California Family Mediation, the Ventura County Superior Court, the California Academy of Mediation Professionals, the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Los Angeles City Attorney Dispute Resolution Program as well as the FINRA Arbitration Panel.

Mr. Whistler possesses a Master of Arts: Negotiation and Conflict Management from California State University Dominguez Hills as well as a BS in Business Administration from CSU - Los Angeles. He also serves on the Board of SCMA, the Southern California Mediation Association and is a Board Member/Treasurer of the LA Chapter of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. Marvin is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the FINRA Arbitration Panel.

MC3 is nonprofit organized to ensure user and public confidence in the mediation process by setting standards for mediator training, education, and ethics and by maintaining those standards through its certification program. MC3 has set a higher standard of review than other credentialing agencies in mediator education including an ongoing requirement for continuing education as well as a requirement that MC3-Certified Mediators have a basic understanding and familiarity with legal/litigation terminology and California courtroom procedures as well as understanding of the ethics that guide mediation practice and policy. All MC3-Certified Mediators complete employment background checks and have agreed to a Quality Assurance program that provides disputants with an opportunity to address any ethical concerns that may have arisen during the course of a mediation.
